What will the Family History Report include?

Each Family History Report is completely unique but will typically include:

professional A3 pull out Drop Line Pedigree Charts for each line followed

the family story of each line followed

information on the social history that shaped their lives

biographies of prominent individuals in your family history

family photographs (provided by the client)

copies and extracts of historic documents (e.g. census returns, service records)

birth, marriage and death certificates etc. where obtained

Have your family history professionally researched and your family stories documented by an experienced Genealogist and published Author.

We will conduct extensive online research into your ancestry and bring your family history to life by telling the stories of the people in your family tree. How they thrived and survived and what life was like in the times they lived in.
We will provide a complete digital record of your family tree (GEDOM file) which can be uploaded and viewed on most genealogy sites.

Ancestry Research Packages
These offer the opportunity to trace a particular family surname back in time to the early 1800s; sometimes earlier.* Our starting point as the 'root' of the tree is you or another living relative.

These packages are ideal if your main interest is to follow a particular family line back in time and learn as much as possible about these ancestors.

Our Ancestry Research Packages are presented in a deluxe walnut effect A4 binder (available in red, blue or green).

One Surname - £449
Two Surnames - £799

*We aim to trace your ancestry back to at least the early 1800s (sometimes earlier). However, prior to Civil Registration in 1837 success will depend on a number of factors including the survival of parish records, online availability of records, popularity of surnames, social standing of ancestors. In general, the further back in time you go the more difficult it is to trace ancestors.

NB. We do record your ancestor's siblings names and birth dates where these can be reasonably found but do not include research about their lives. You can add extra research time if you would like to find out more about specific individuals.
Complete Family History Research Packages
With these comprehensive packages we will research your complete family history. This will include ALL of your ancestors going back in time to your 2 x Great Grandparents.

NB. We do record your ancestor's siblings names and birth dates where these can be reasonably found but do not include research about their lives. You can add extra research time if you would like to find out more about specific individuals.
Payment
A deposit of £100 is required to book the research project. A further instalment (50% less deposit) is payable on commencement of the research. The balance is due on completion. For our Complete Family History Packages payment may be made in four instalments.

Payment may be made in GB Pounds sterling by bank transfer, debit/credit card or via PayPal.

Q: Why pay for professional research?
A: While many people enjoy undertaking their own research it is a very time consuming pursuit and few of us have the free time available. Also, unless you have been professionally trained in research techniques it is very easy to make mistakes or come to a dead end.
By hiring a professional you eliminate the painstaking work and can be completely confident in the accuracy of the research.
Q: How long will the research take?
A: It may take 8 to 12 weeks to complete a Family History Report. Thorough genealogical research takes time and we may have to obtain copies of official certificates to progress the research. We also carefully document our research, prepare family trees and write family stories.

If you are ordering a Family History as a gift and need it for a specific date we will do our very best to accommodate you. If this is not possible, we can prepare a personalised gift letter to be presented to the recipient informing them of the commission.
Q: What happens if you can't find one of my ancestors?
A: No professional can guarantee to find an ancestor. Sometimes the records are simply not there or we cannot be sure in proving a link. We will always only give you information we are sure of.
If we are unable to compete a line of research we will suggest another avenue of research for you.
Q: Can I get additional copies of my Family History Report?
A: We often get requests for additional copies of our Family History Reports to be given as gifts to other members of the family. We can produce either a duplicate copy or a personalised version of the Family History Report. Contact us for more details.

Q: Can you go back further in time?
A: We may be able to trace some of your family lines further back in time and will have a good idea if this is possible after completing the initial research. No guarantees can be made as it will depend on the family in question and what records have survived for the area where they were living.
The number of your ancestors doubles with every generation as you move back in time. So you have thirty two 3x Great Grandparents, sixty four 4x Great Grandparents etc. To follow all family lines back would be very time consuming so we would recommend focusing on specific lines which are of particular interest. Additional research is charged on an hourly basis at £30/hour.
