NEED SOME HELP WITH YOUR FAMILY TREE?
YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE!
Genealogy, or the study of Family Trees, is one of the most popular pursuits in the UK and it’s not hard to see why. After all, at one time or another most of us have wondered “where did I come from?” and genealogy, even if it’s only for a few generations, provides an answer.
But more than this, it allows us to see where our families fitted into the bigger picture of history. The books may be full of Lords and Ladies, Generals and Politicians, but for most of us this has little direct relevance.
What we want to know is how our own forebears survived, thrived, struggled, as the great wheel of history turned.
I’ve been researching Family Trees for more than 30-years. When I started there was little option but to trudge to various Record Offices where family history records were stored and work my way through them page by page.
Many’s the time I’ve spent several hours hard at work and come away with a single name, or sometimes nothing at all. You have to be dedicated (or simply daft) to keep at it.
Fortunately, that’s no longer the case. On-line research sites have revolutionised family history research. They take information from a wide variety of sources, digitise it, and present it to you as a single, searchable database in the comfort of your own home.
Why would anyone want to go back?
It all sounds good, but, like everything else in life, it can be more difficult than you anticipate. I am still learning new things on an almost daily basis and I've been doing this a very, very, long time.
Online resources are excellent but they have their limitations and it is important to understand what those limitations are. The further you go back in time the greater the need to go back to the original documents.
Similarily DNA has revolutionised the pursuit but you have to understand what you are doing to make sense of it.
So, whether you are looking for living people or those long gone I can assist you in your research or undertake this on your behalf. Whatever your genealogical needs are, come to us and I am sure we can provide you with options to move you forward.
So, what are you waiting for? Let’s get started!
